The Laurie Roper was named after a local gal that is well known for being a good horseman, trainer and roper. We have been told that it is become a standard requirement for all ropers to carry a knife while dong that sport in case they or the calf get tangled and can’t get free. This little reversed hawk bill is just for that emergency. The cutting edge is on top so when you pull it out of the sheath in one smooth movement you can cut the rope or pigging string.
This knife has mosaic pins on a spalted Maple handle that has been stabelized in red dye. The steel is CMP154 Stainless Steel with a nice patina that has a sealent to protect it.
